How this future dietitian found faith and friendship while following her dreams
For Kydalin Gomm, choosing Marywood University was about more than just a strong academic program—it was about the people who made it feel like home. “I really enjoyed Marywood’s Nutrition and Dietetics program,” she shared. “The professors were so welcoming and helpful.”
Thanks to financial aid, Kydalin has been able to fully pursue her academic goals without added financial stress. “It has allowed me to continue to pursue an education in the nutrition and dietetics field,” she said.
Since arriving at Marywood, Kydalin has hit the ground running. She’s already built a list of meaningful accomplishments—from earning strong grades to becoming a student ambassador, and most importantly, forming lasting friendships that have enriched her experience. Campus involvement is a huge part of her journey. She’s actively engaged in the Student Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, GetFruved, and InterVarsity Bible Study, and is excited to join the Track and Field team next year. Through these opportunities, Kydalin has not only grown as a student, but as a person.
“My professors and other adults on campus have empowered me to work hard,” she said. “They’ve helped me believe in myself and my future.” Her time at Marywood has also taught her one of life’s most important lessons: “The importance of kindness. Meeting so many new people, it’s important to treat everyone with respect and smile.”
Looking ahead, Kydalin envisions a bright future. “In five years, I hope to have a job as a dietitian in a hospital, and also be getting married and starting a family.” With the support and resources Marywood provides, she’s confident she’s on the right path.
If she had the opportunity to thank the donors who help make her education possible, Kydalin knows exactly what she’d say. “I would show them all the multiple ways that throughout my first year at Marywood, I was able to get involved, meet new people, create connections with professors, and build lifelong friendships.”And when the time comes, she hopes to give back too. “One day, I would like to make that same impact.”
When she thinks about Commencement, Kydalin imagines a moment filled with gratitude: “I will feel incredibly grateful for the opportunities I was granted during my time at Marywood—along with gratitude for the people who supported me.” With determination, warmth, and a strong sense of purpose, Kydalin Gomm is embracing her journey—and she’s just getting started.
