Mother Theresa Maxis Center
In partnership with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s effort, AAC&U works with higher education institutions across the country to develop self-sustaining, community-integrated Campus Centers. Organized around the five pillars of the TRHT framework—narrative change, racial healing and relationship building, separation, law, and economy—the Centers seek to prepare the next generation of leaders to confront racism and to dismantle the belief in a hierarchy of human value.
Lynn Pasquerella, president of AAC&U said, “AAC&U is thrilled to partner with these outstanding institutions on our way to establish 150 centers across the country to ensure that higher education is playing a leadership role in promoting racial and social justice.”
Marywood's Center, in existence since 2020, was rededicated on May 9, 2024, as the Mother Theresa Maxis Center, in recognition of the IHM Congregation co-founder and her lifelong work of promoting justice, service to the poor, and a pioneering spirit. The dedication took place outside of the Maxis TRHT Center, located on the second floor of the Learning Commons. The vision of the Center is to prepare the next generation of leaders to confront racism and to dismantle the belief in a hierarchy of human value. By carrying the name of Mother Theresa Maxis, it further emphasizes deep faith and a commitment to creating a more equitable and compassionate world.
